We are Auburn Readers Share the Beauty Rituals that Make Them Feel More Confident
The beauty of beauty is that it can make you feel amazing and that is why it is so empowering to prioritise self-care. From haircare, skincare, makeup or general pampering, it is always so important to put the time and energy into you. You should never feel guilty about investing in your beauty routine, especially if it makes you feel good - you should be proud of the process.
I am sure that you can agree that we all have things we’re working on loving a little bit more and when it comes to our appearance we all have those favourite products that allow us to enhance what we have already got.
We asked our We are Auburn readers the beauty rituals that they swear by, indulge in and make them feel the most confident and the real responses were too beautiful not to share. It's amazing how small changes in your routines are capable of making the biggest impact. Read on for their beauty stories along with the products that make them feel like their best selves.
“I wear my L'Oréal sublime face tan almost everyday and it gives me the confidence to go out without makeup with the exception of a little mascara…”
”I love the glycolic acid from The Ordinary... Its helped smooth my skin and get rid of all the little bumps that just sit there but don't turn into spots so they just seem to stay for a long time!”
“I moisturise my legs daily, I think it’s a placebo effect but it makes me feel like my tan stays longer when I go on holiday. Even if I haven’t been on holiday in months!”
”I could not survive without micellar water. I use it to take my make up off or just to remove any impurities after a day in the city. It’s incredible, even if you think you’ve got a clean face and you use it, stuff will always come off. Makes me feel so clean and refeshed.”
“Nothing quite gives me confidence in the morning like my toothbrush and toothpaste, the simple things I know, but it would literally be the difference between me talking out loud to just nodding”
“I swear by my Clarins Radiance Booster face tan which you mix in with any daily moisturiser (morning or night) and it gives a nice healthy glow/colour which is natural and just helps especially in these duller months!”
“Rose water (used as a toner) that is especially imported from Bulgaria... They have world class rose quality... and the toner is simply lush! without it i feel dull. This rose water gives me the confidence to shine and now i can buy it online (which is great!)”
”I am a big fan of an eyebrow tint just to help define the brows for a less makeup-y look... I use the Eyelure dark brown one for DIY at home as it’s so easy and cheap! But then will treat myself to a wax/tint a few times a year and around occasions/holidays etc.”
”I love my hot cloth cleanser, either the Liz Earle one or I’ve discovered Superdrug’s own Radiance brand (light green bottles) and it’s practically exact same ingredients as Liz Earle and super cheap, smells nice, and works just as well!! Comes with a little cloth and it really helps to thoroughly clean your skin and make it feel glowy and smooth without drying out.”
“Perfume! I know smelling good makes me feel good, when someone compliments me on my perfume it boosts my confidence and improves my day. My favs are Victor and Rolf Flower Bomb and YSL Black Opium.”
”Any form of face mask for a quick pamper is such a confidence boost, the Garnier sheet masks or Oh K! masks which are a newer brand... quick tip they’re selling the Oh K! masks in TK Maxx for such a good price as they can be quite expensive otherwise!”
“I’d say mine is very very basic. I couldn’t live without an oil based eye make up remover so garnier or Nivea 2 in 1 style eye make up remover, there is nothing better than rubbing your eyes after all your make up is off!”
“The Drying Lotion from Mario Badescu has made the thought of a spot way less scary - This is a magic potion without the witchcraft. Spot or blemish surfacing? Dab on a cleansed face before bed with a cotton bud. Easy peasy. Wake up and spot virtually gone! Would recommend to any girl who wants a perfect complexion.”
”I used to swear by micellar water until I was introduced to the face halo which has literally changed my life! It takes all your make up off using just water. The pad can be used up to 200 times and can be put into the washing machine to be cleaned, amazing”
”I absolutely swear by La Roche-Posay effaclar cleanser, gel face wash and moisturiser. I had horrendous spots all over my cheeks and chin. Started using this in December twice a day and they’ve all gone now thank the lordddd. It’s £32.50 in boots however it’s saved my life and I would buy it a million times over.”
“I get dry lips and started using Honey Trap lip scrub from Lush. It scrubs your lips - without being too harsh - and gets rid of all the dead skin. I then put Vaseline on top to keep them from getting dry again”
“Dry shampoo is a general life saver and don’t think I’ve ever found anything quite as good as good old Batiste! It saves me time and is so handy between washes and the gym etc. I like that it can add texture too.”
